Global Beer

The Global Beer Bar at the Leeds festival has, in 2010, gone further than ever in supporting the beer festival’s theme, whilst still showcasing a fantastic range of beer styles from all over the world, from sparkling blondes to creamy wheats, chewy stouts to rich trappists.
The theme this year is The Seaside, and the Global Beer Bar is where you’ll find the festival’s ‘Ice Ceam Parlour’. The Top Shelf has a range of tutti fruitti flavours like you’ve never seen with sweet and sour fruit beers, plus more chocolate ales than you ever knew existed. Add to that a Scottish Seaweed ale and we’ve got it covered!
‘Raspberry Ripple’ and ‘Blackcurrant Sorbet’ are special brews for us this year – one-off beers from local brewery Tigertops, infused with real fruit from a Pudsey allotment. Visit the Fruity Handpump for more delicious details!
Features planned this year are:
* The Fruity Handpump – as above, dedicated to dispensing fruit beer, a festival favourite. We even have a specially made pot on the handpump!
* We’re placing an order again this year with a specialist Belgian supplier, so expect to see one or two rare bottles from the country where some beers defy categorisation!
* Regular Beer Tastings for unusual beers
* Collaboration with Leeds beery institutions North Bar, New Briggate and Beer Ritz, Headingley, means that an even more interesting range of unusual and wonderful beers will be available this year – look out for North’s Mr. Frothy on the way in to the festival! It’s a beery ice cream van. Honestly.
