Dave the Owl plays Guitar

Leeds Beer, Cider and Perry Festival is not just about beer, cider and perry. They're important, of course, but there's much more going on. There is, as they say, never a dull moment.

Some sessions have live musical entertainment on the stage in the main hall. Other sessions are quiet except for the buzz of conversation. There's also plenty going around the hall with plenty of stalls to browse at, food to buy, and even a game to play.

The Entertainment ...

There's a mix of the familiar and the new to entertain you from the Music Stage this year, once again sponsored by The Grove Inn, Holbeck.

Thursday night is student night at the Festival, so to kick off proceedings we've assembled a quartet especially for the event. Featuring sax, guitar, bass and drums, Key of Dynamo offer contemporary blues with a twist of reggae...or to put it another way, "dirty grooves and smooth harmonies".

On Friday evening, Blues Positive will be bringing you their mainly up-tempo Chicago Blues style, with some jazz influences. You can expect to hear songs such as: "Born Under A Bad Sign", "Diving Duck Blues", "If Love Was A Train" and "Your Funeral And My Trial".

Saturday afternoon sees the debut of Euclid Avenue at Pudsey, with what we're reliably informed might be described as 'British school blues' in the John Mayall mode.

Later on Saturday evening, perennial favourites the Leeds Beer Festival Jazz Quartet return to get those feet tapping to their well-honed trad jazz numbers. A classic finish from a classy ensemble.

The Stalls ...

As always there will be plenty of stalls dotted around the hall. We're expecting the usual favourites:

  • For something to read or a postcard to send your friends, visit Beer Inn Print.
  • The CAMRA Shop offers a range of CAMRA books and other merchandise, along with exclusive festival t-shirts and other apparel.
  • Anyone who's not a CAMRA member will of course want to visit the CAMRA Membership Stand.
  • If you're feeling a bit peckish, make you way over to Mr Scratching's emporium, offering pork-based products, crisps and sweeties.

Games ...

The festival would not be complete without the chance to have a bit of a flutter on the legendary Tombola.

Every 1's a Winner!
