We do not ration beer, so if you want to try something in particular, you would be well advised to come early.

They’re best known for their bottled beers, of course.  Their beers are not often seen in cask.

But they will be seen at Leeds Beer, Cider and Perry Festival 2010!  Look for Punk IPA and Trashy Blonde to be at Pudsey in March!

The first three come from the Otley Brewery.  Don’t panic if you missed this one, it’s in Pontypridd, South Wales, not in Otley, West Yorkshire.  This is the brewery that produces the legendary O8, the Champion Beer of Leeds a few years back.  Expect some O8 along with others from down there.

The other comes from Rodham’s Brewery, which really is in our Otley.  Old Albion is a proper dark Yorkshire beer.

In case you’re wondering, Otley Brewery is run by a chap called Mr Otley.

We are pleased to announce that we have managed to put an end to this by persuading Quantock Brewery from Somerset to supply us this year.  As far as we know this is the first time their beer has made it to Leeds, so be early if you want to try it!

But there are some from a bit further away that are regular features.  One such is Nottingham Brewery.  You don’t see their beers up here, which is a shame because they’re rather good.  They’re good chaps at the brewery, too.

So, this is your annual chance to get some Nottingham in Leeds.  Mild and the astonishingly good EPA will be on the bar.  Get those Festival dates in the diary now.

Leeds CAMRA members should now have received Staffing Forms in the post.  Please get them back as soon as possible (but don’t fret if you forget – you can just turn up on the night).

Please also see if you can’t print out a few posters and display them around the town.  Good places are pubs. clubs, worls noticeboards, or anywhere else really.  Posters have been available at recent Branch Meetings.

You wait ages for breweries to get in touch, and then two get in touch inside ten minutes!  First, by a few minutes, was George from the new Nook Brewhouse over in Holmfirth.  We’re always keen to try new local breweries, so we’ll be talking to George in the next week or so.

And, hey, they’ve got a CAMRA logo on the web page!

Stu says he will be making his first visit to the festival this year, and emails us with his top suggestions: Thornbridge (including the excellent Jaipur), Thorne – (a new brewery in South Yorks (going down a storm)), and  Dark Tribe (a small pub brewery, nearr Scunthorpe).
